Like many people I’ve spoken with, I have become a bit of a bird nerd as I’ve gotten older. I’ve even downloaded an app to identify birds in my vicinity by sound, which is how I became aware of these creatures. This original encaustic painting is 9” x 12” on a birch board panel and features its namesake bird. The background’s depth is created using a technique I developed using India Ink and layers of clear encaustic medium.
